Current mission news - Haiti:
June 2008
To quote Mike
Grant, it was "Just another day in Haiti."
Our mission
team, aka "The Dirty Dozen," spent the better part of two weeks in the small
village of Beauchamp located in the Far Northwest of Haiti. After a
bone-rattling, stomach-churning 7 & 1/2 hour bus ride from Port-au-Prince to
Saint Louis-du-Nord we set out to the village of Beauchamp where our
missionaries Mike & Teresa Grant have started a mighty work.
When we
arrived we were greeted by children and burros and goats...oh my! But
the very best surprise was the exciting progress made to the construction of
the mission.
Mike and Teresa's house was completed (minus electrical
wiring and running water), the bath house was also near completion and the
worship center needed only to have the floor poured with cement.
Throughout
the coming days, our team would conduct two medical clinics where we saw
almost 500 patients, hold VBS for local children and a neighboring
village, visit in the homes with several of the villagers, and "gai pai"
with the church members during revival nights. Seth and Preston
preached and held Bible seminars throughout our stay that were inspirational and right on target with the people. In between
we played
games with the children, talked with our interpreters and tried to get
better
acquainted with just who these precious people are and what makes them so special.
